Out Of The Blue

from Love Hounds n' Fortune Cookies by Gary O'Dea

about

A philosophical reflection on lost love, it's memories and slightly bitter taste. Features the wonderfully talented Mr Eric Cox on mandolin amongst other things...and Mr Ami Haywood on the fiddle!

lyrics

Out Of The Blue

A seasoned message from your silver tongue and you think that’ll do,
Oh well, I ain’t heard from you in oh it’s gotta’ be months.

We’ll meet for a drink next Saturday week, hey girl you gotta’ cheek,
And oh no, the boys don’t meet down the ‘Dog & Bucket’ no more.

I know your sister Jeanie has been blessed with twins, a boy and a girl that’s nice,
But I don’t think we can take from were we left off.

You’ve never been one to mince your words, ever since that night you burnt your bra,
You do amaze me, the way you think your, above the rest cos’ you drink neat gin – (oh no, no not again).

Don’t wanna’ hear of your college day’s and that you’re writing for its magazine,
Or of the car that, your daddy bought, cos’ you got good grades in your exams this year – (oh no, no not again).
(You’re so sure of yourself).

The way you left when you went away with your head in the clouds,
Well you’re no longer the centre of attention round’ hear.

So I’ll wish you the best with your current success in reaching the top,
Well we had a smile or two in our time but I’m afraid that’s the past.

Now I gotta’ go now, cos’ my bath water is getting stone cold,
Oh well, if I see you round’ then perhaps we’ll share a bottle or,
If I see you round’ then perhaps we’ll share a bottle or,
If I see you round’ – then perhaps we’ll share a bottle or two.
